Utah coach Kyle Whittingham raved about freshman quarterback Tyler Huntley during this week's Pac-12 spring media teleconference, but he also said junior college transfer Troy Williams was the "most impressive" of Utah's three QBs prior to being sidelined with an arm injury in early April.  Williams had gone through about half of Utah's practices before being shut down with what the school described as a sore throwing arm. Whittingham used the word "injury" in the teleconference, but pointed out that no surgery is required and said Williams should be fully cleared to throw May 31, when the Utes begin summer workouts.  Having played one year at Washington before transferring to Santa Monica College, Williams was "exactly what we thought he would be," Whittingham said, labeling him "very polished." The Utes will list the three quarterbacks as co-starters, going into camp in August. Utah opens the season Sept. 1 vs. Southern Utah at Rice-Eccles Stadium. If Williams is Utah's starter, beating out Huntley and junior Brandon Cox, one of the most interesting games on the Utes' schedule will be Oct. 29 vs. Washington. The Utes and Huskies are expected to be picked No. 1 in their respective divisions in at least some preseason forecasts.  Look for daily updates about the other Pac-12 football programs on this blog over the next 11 days, based on notes from the teleconference.  – Kurt Kragthorpe
