BYU announced on Wednesday that former Cougar Jack Damuni has been hired as the school's Director of Player Personnel.

Damuni played for BYU in 1993 and 1994 as a safety under coach LaVell Edwards and at Dixie College in 1991 and 1992.

He has been a school teacher in Hawaii from 1996-2015 and most recently has been an assistant coach at Baldwin High school in Maui.

Former director of player personnel Justin Anderson followed coach Bronco Mendenhall to Virginia.

The newspaper Maui Now first reported that Damuni would be hired by coach Kalani Sitake.

Damuni started in eight games for BYU and has something in common with Mendenhall; Both have a son named Raider. Damuni's other children are Dayson, Selai and Silina.

Damuni graduated from Kahuku High on Oahu's North Shore.
