Logan • Utah State has not made it official, but Louisiana-Monroe assistant Steve Farmer has apparently accepted the job as the Aggies' new offensive line coach.

"I want to congratulate Steve because I know it's a great opportunity for him," Louisiana-Monroe head coach Matt Viator told the News-Star newspaper, which initially reported the story. "Steve was not only a great coach here for a long time, but he is a first-class person and a true role model to our players."

Farmer spent 11 years during two stints at Louisiana-Monroe, which finished 2-11 overall and 1-9 in the Sun Belt Conference this season. He coached with Utah State assistant Luke Wells at ULM from 2004-08.

Farmer replaces Mark Weber, who last month took a job at Fresno State. He is one of six assistants to leave Utah State since the Aggies' 23-21 loss to Akron in the Famous Idaho Potato Bowl on Dec. 22.

So far, Utah State has hired Frank Maile as co-defensive coordinator, David Kotulski as linebacker coach and Farmer.
