While winter isn't an ideal time to fish Tibble Fork Reservoir in American Fork Canyon, those who find their way to the scenic little alpine lake will find liberalized limits until June 30.

The reservoir will be drained as early as April to make repairs to the outlet works, upgrade the dam to meet safety and seismic standards and increase water storage.

The Division of Wildlife Resources has temporarily liberalized limits to allow anglers to harvest fish that might otherwise be lost. The daily limit has been increased to eight fish.

Wildlife officials are telling anglers to use caution if they venture out on to the ice. Rainbow trout are the primary fish being caught.
