Police are seeking the public's help in identifying a man suspected of robbing hotels in Sandy and Midvale earlier this month.

On Nov. 4, Sandy police responded to a robbery at the Hampton Inn, 10690 S. Holiday Park Drive (150 West), where a man

had walked in and handed the clerk a note demanding cash, according to a press release.

He was described as a heavy set white male, 50-60 years of age, with gray hair and had a "unique gait."

He was wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt, sunglasses, green baseball cap and khakis. The suspect left with the cash. There were no injuries.

On Nov. 9, Unified police responded to a robbery at the Staybridge Suites, 747 W. Blue Vista Lane (about 7250 South), in Midvale, where a man of similar description to the Sandy robbery had given the clerk a threatening note demanding money.

In this incident the suspect was wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt, green baseball hat, a white polo shirt with black and orange stripes and stonewashed jeans with holes in them.

Sandy PD and UPD believe the same suspect robbed both hotels, according to the press release.

If anyone has information as to the identity of the suspect they are asked to call the UPD Violent Crimes Unit at 385-468-9817, or Sandy PD at 801-840-4000.
