A zombie killer, an ax-wielding dwarf, a certified nerd, a dapper time-traveler, a psychic assassin and a man of steel.

Those are the roles made famous by the six celebrities signed on to appear at Salt Lake Comic Con's third annual Fan Experience — better known as FanX — set for March 24-26 at the Salt Palace Convention Center, 100 S. West Temple, Salt Lake City.

The six celebrities, in alphabetical order, are:

• Curtis Armstrong • Best known as the gross-out king Booger in the 1984 comedy "Revenge of the Nerds," Armstrong has recurring roles as the angel Metatron on the CW series "Supernatural," and as the school principal Mr. Foster on Fox's "New Girl."

• Dean Cain • Cain played Superman and reporter Clark Kent in the '90s TV series "Lois & Clark," and recently returned to the DC Comics family as Jeremiah Danvers, stepfather to Kara Danvers, on CBS' new series "Supergirl." He also played LDS Church founder Joseph Smith in the widely reviled 2006 historical drama "September Dawn."

• Peter Davison • Davison is The Fifth Doctor, having starred on the BBC series "Doctor Who" from 1981 to 1984. He has appeared in the British TV series "All Creatures Great and Small," "Campion" and "Law & Order: UK."

• Summer Glau • Glau's first major acting role was as River Tam, a psychic who was trained as an assassin, in Joss Whedon's short-lived but much-beloved series "Firefly" (and its follow-up movie, "Serenity"). Glau also played the killer android in "Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles," and recently had a recurring role on The CW's "Arrow."

• Norman Reedus • Arguably the biggest "get" among the six, Reedus stars as the survival-minded zombie killer Daryl Dixon on AMC's "The Walking Dead." His movie resume includes "The Boondock Saints," "Blade II," "The Conspirator," and the upcoming crime thriller "Triple 9" (opening next February).

• John Rhys-Davies • The Welsh-born actor, known for his booming voice, has hundreds of screen credits. He is best known for playing the ax-swinging dwarf Gimli in "The Lord of the Rings" trilogy, and the trusty Egyptian guide Sallah in "Raiders of the Lost Ark" and "Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade."

More celebrities will be announced in the coming weeks. Tickets for FanX are on sale at the Salt Lake Comic Con website.
