Christmas tree permits on southwestern Utah public lands will be available through December 24.

The permits enable holders to cut personal-use trees on lands managed by the Bureau of Land Management and the U.S. Forest Service around Washington County.

The Arizona Strip District of the BLM is offering $5 permits per tree. The St. George Field Office of the BLM is selling tree permits for $10 each. And the Dixie National Forest is offering permits for $10 for trees up to 10 feet high and $20 for trees 11 to 20 feet high.

A permit is required for the harvest of each individual tree. The tree tag is validated by attaching it securely to the tree in a visible location and cutting out the date, month and year. Permits are only good for the land agency in which the tag was purchased.

Pinyon pine or juniper trees are available on BLM Arizona Strip, BLM St. George Field Office and Pine Valley District on the Dixie National Forest. The cutting of white fir and subalpine fir is permitted on the Cedar City District of the Dixie National Forest.

Permits can be purchased at the St. George BLM Public Lands Information Center at 345 E. Riverside Drive. It is open Monday through Friday from 7:45 a.m. to 5 p.m. and from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday.
