An Orem bicyclist was in critical but improving condition Sunday, the day after a car ran a red light and struck him and his wife, who later died of her injuries.

Public-safety dispatchers said there had been no change reported in the condition of 55-year-old Kevin Bown. His wife, 51-year-old Stacy Bown, was pronounced dead Saturday night, about six hours after the collision, near 800 East and University Parkway.

Police said the Bowns had waited for the light to turn green, and had just entered the intersection southbound when an eastbound Honda Civic struck the couple.

The male driver was not arrested immediately, and the investigation continued.

However, police said witnesses indicated the driver did not stop for the red light, nor brake prior to the collision.

Criminal charges were anticipated.
