Pine View's Riley Livingston provided quite the scare across the state on Friday night. The quarterback was taken by ambulance after losing consciousness for "20 to 30 seconds" after his head collided with a defender's helmet and powered back into the turf while he tried to recover a mishandled snap in an eventual loss against Desert Hills.

Livingston was diagnosed with a concussion and a cervical spine sprain. If he passes all concussion procedures, he could possibly be back in the lineup as early as Friday when the Panthers travel to Cedar.

"I'm feeling pretty good. My neck is pretty sore, and I'm kind of dizzy, but nothing too major," said Livingston, who noted he has no recollection of the play in which he was injured. "I'm ready to get back out there. I want to go back out and play some football."

Both Pine View and Desert Hills gathered together to offer prayer for Livingston while medical personnel were tending his injury. Livingston has since seen footage of the moment, which he said touched him.

"It means a lot to me that both teams have the sportsmanship to do that," Livingston said. "It shows that even though we're rival teams, we can still be friends off the field."

PROVING US WRONG

One team is all that got the better of me this weekend. Juab — you proved me wrong. The Wasps defeated Canyon View to take sole custody of the 3A South region. Tom Wharton finished 5-2 this week, also wrongly picking Canyon View and Roy (lost to Mountain Crest). Brennan Smith finished 3-4, so he owes shout-outs to Juab, Herriman (beat Pleasant Grove), Sky View (beat Brighton) and Mountain Crest.
