Utah Highway Patrol troopers confirmed that a 61-year-old West Haven man was killed in a rollover crash on Interstate 80 near Delle in Tooele County.

UHP Sgt. Todd Royce said that Gerald D. Bastian was a passenger in a Dodge Dakota driven by Ann M. Fearn, 48, of Hooper, when the vehicle went out of control and rolled near milepost 70 on eastbound I-80, about 15 miles west of Grantsville, just before 7 p.m. Wednesday.

Bastian, who was not wearing a seat belt, was ejected and pronounced dead at the scene.

Fearn was wearing a seat belt, but suffered critical injuries to her head and body. She was flown to University Hospital in Salt Lake City by helicopter, where she remained on Thursday.

Troopers suspect alcohol and drugs were contributing factors to the accident, but the crash remained under investigation.
