About 75 firefighters expected to complete containment of the human-caused, 340-acre Santaquin Canyon blaze by late Thursday.

Fire Information Officer Reid Shelley said the specific origin of the fire, burning in mostly grass and oak brush about 3 miles southeast of the Utah-Juab county community of Santaquin, was still under investigation.

As of Wednesday morning the blaze was 20 percent contained. Crews expected a cycle of rain storms to aid them as they complete lines around the smoldering fire.

The fire was remapped overnight Tuesday, dropping its estimated size from 450 to 340 acres.

No structures have been lost or threatened, and no injuries have been reported.

Meanwhile, some of the Santaquin Fire personnel also were monitoring the nearby 30-acre Alpine Fire in the Lone Peak Wilderness. That blaze was being allowed to burn in order to clear away accumulated undergrowth.
