A man was critically hurt Saturday when the two tankers he was towing overturned in Weber Canyon.

The 36-year-old Sunset man was hauling milk west on Interstate 84 when he crashed near mile marker 92, said Utah Highway Patrol Trooper Jared Cornia. "Witnesses stated that the semi had a tire failure and the truck overturned," Cornia said. The crash occurred about 1:20 p.m.

The driver suffered head and neck injuries and was taken to McKay-Dee Hospital in critical condition, Cornia said.

The crash also caused a small grass fire, which firefighters extinguished.

The westbound lanes were shut down while troopers investigated the crash and cleared the scene. Cornia expected the closure to last into the evening.

Cornia did not know whether the milk tanks ruptured.
