A 20-year-old man was in serious but improving condition Friday, the day after he was rescued from the scene of an ATV crash in American Fork Canyon.

Utah County Sheriff's Sgt. Spencer Cannon said the said it took several hours for rescuers to reach the man just before 4 p.m. Thursday, and they finally used a helicopter to hoist him from a spot 75 yards down a hill in the Graveyard Flat area of the canyon.

The man suffered head, back and ankle injuries but none were life-threatening, Cannon said.
