The Weber County Sheriff's Office has identified a motorcyclist killed in a weekend crash on State Road 39 near Monte Cristo.

Sheriff's Lt. Lane Findlay said that 47-year-old Boonma Sutan, of Las Vegas, Nev., was riding his newly acquired Honda CBS 1000 about 10 a.m. Sunday when he lost control on a curve, slid off the roadway and crashed into a rocky, 80-foot ravine near mile marker 33.

Other riders in Sutan's group stopped to render aid, and a deputy and paramedics also administered CPR. However, Sutan was pronounced dead at the scene before a medical helicopter could transport him to the hospital.

Findlay said Sutan had been traveling from Las Vegas to Utah to purchase the motorcycle. After buying the bike, he and some friends decided to go on a ride over Monte Cristo before he returned home. Sutan was wearing a helmet but suffered extensive injuries during the crash.

Excessive speed is believed to have been a factor in the accident.
