Kyle Beckerman and Nick Rimando have once again been summoned by Jurgen Klinsmann.

The two RSL pillars were named to a 22-man roster for upcoming U.S. men's national team friendlies against the Netherlands and reigning World Cup champion Germany. The U.S. face No. 6-ranked Netherlands on Friday, June 5, at Amsterdam Arena in Amsterdam at 12:30 p.m. on ESPN.

"I think the Netherlands is a very gifted team that goes back ages — a team that over the years has been one of the best in the world," Rimando said in a release from the club. "They're quick, skillful and very organized so we have to play with the same confidence and shut down the key players."

Five days later, the U.S. face Germany on Wednesday, June 10, in Cologne at 12:45 p.m. on FOX Sports 1. Germany beat the U.S. 1-0 in last summer's 2014 FIFA World Cup in the final match of the group stage, a match in which Beckerman, who started all three of the groups stage matches, played his final game of the tournament in Brazil.

"Anytime we have a chance to come together, it is a time to get better as a team. We don't have a lot of time together throughout the year so we have to make the most of it every time," Beckerman said in the same release.

For the first time in nine years, the U.S. and Germany will meet on German soil. The last meeting was a 4-1 trouncing of the Americans, when Klinsmann was then head coach of the national team. Klinsmann's post-World Cup schedule continues to test the USMNT by adding the Netherlands and Germany onto a slate of friendlies that have already included Chile, Denmark, Switzerland, and Mexico.

"It's another friendly that both teams will use to gage players and move the teams in the right direction," Rimando said. "There will be some similar players from the World Cup but a lot of new faces so for me this game is another opportunity to see where we are as players and as a team in the world."

The two friendlies in Europe will be the final foreign-based matches before the U.S. enters CONCACAF Gold Cup play in early July. The U.S. has a friendly against Guatemala set up for Friday, July 3, in Nashville, Tenn. The U.S. begins Gold Cup play on Tuesday, July 7, against Honduras in Frisco, Texas.

"Our time since the World Cup has been a transition period which now winds down before the Gold Cup," said Klinsmann in a release. "Playing against top teams like Germany and the Netherlands provides valuable experience, especially for the younger players here. More and more they must understand we come to meet these opponents eye to eye. Obviously it's a bit tricky when we are without some of our core players, but that creates a huge opportunity for the guys here to benchmark themselves against some of the best players in the world. "

Klinsmann has again mixed experience with youth for this camp. Eight players on the roster for the upcoming friendlies against the Netherlands and Germany have 10 or less caps, with nine having made more 20 appearances.

Beckerman has 43 U.S. senior team caps after returning to the fold in April in a friendly against Mexico in San Antonio in which the U.S. won 2-0. RSL's 32-year-old captain left that friendly in the 69th minute with a thigh contusion.

Rimando has started all five friendlies in 2015, including a 45-minute stint against Mexico on April 15. The U.S. is 2-2-1 in those matches this season. The 35-year-old all-time regular-season shutout king has a 13-3-2 record with the U.S.

According to an RSL spokesperson, the club expects both Beckerman and Rimando to miss Sunday's home match against the Colorado Rapids, although the possibility of one or both players returning after the friendly against the Netherlands remains in play.

RSL technical director Craig Waibel said he expects to lose players to Gold Cup duty following the trip to face the New York Red Bulls on June 24 and after the June 27 home match against the Columbus Crew.

Noticeable absences for these high-profile friendlies include Toronto FC forward Jozy Altidore, still recovering from a hamstring strain suffered two weeks ago and Nantes FC midfielder Alejandro Bedoya from a knee issue. Captain Clint Dempsey will remain in Seattle, Wash., as he awaits the birth of his fourth child.
