After only two seasons leading the West Jordan program, coach Dan DuPaix confirmed his resignation with The Salt Lake Tribune on Friday afternoon. He accepted another position with MasteryConnect as he plans to pursue a career outside of football.

"I'm very proud of what I accomplished in a short time at West Jordan and will continue to be a proud supporter," DuPaix wrote.

After inheriting the program in 2013, DuPaix led West Jordan to an overall 4-16 overall record with a 1-9 mark in Region 3 play. However, after transitioning from an air raid offense with the instillation of the triple-option — the same scheme his father, Roger DuPaix, perfected at Skyline — the horizon appeared to brighten toward the end of the 2014 season for a program that has historically been uncompetitive. The Jaguars narrowly missed the postseason with a three-point loss at Alta.

According to DuPaix, West Jordan is finishing interviews and is expected to name a replacement sometime next week.

"I know that the candidates are very qualified and will make for an interesting piece when the name is finally announced," DuPaix wrote. "West Jordan will be a good team this year, and I hope that the new coach will get them to their potential."

DuPaix added he has a desire to return to coaching at some point in his lifetime, noting that his oldest child is 7 years old and hopefully he'll help coach his teams.

Elsewhere, Timpanogos announced the hiring of Daniel Tervort as its next football coach. Tervort graduated from Payson, where he played both football and basketball, before playing for SUU and BYU after serving a two-year LDS Church mission.

He spent time coaching both Spanish Fork and Salem Hills post-graduation.

"Daniel's passion for the game and his enthusiasm for working with the young men at Timpanogos High school set him apart," said Timberwolves athletic director Frank Bramall in a press release. "Our young men are excited to play for a coach who wants to be here long term to build the THS football program from the youth teams up."
