With region champions outscoring their opponents 23-1 in the first round of the Class 3A boys soccer tournament Thursday, there were no major surprises.

First-round 3A games saw Ben Lomond blank North Sanpete 0; defending champion Dixie blast Union 9-1; Juan Diego shut out Hurricane 4-0; Grantsville edge Carbon 2-1' Snow Canyon beat Uintah 3-0; Payson blank Bear River 2-0; Stansbury blast Richfield 8-0, and Pine View nip Park City 4-2.

Quarterfinal games are scheduled Saturday.

Ben Lomond will travel to Dixie, Grantsville to Juan Diego, and Pine View to Stansbury for 1 p.m. contests. Snow Canyon is at Payson at noon.

In Class 2A play first-round play Wednesday, Manti bested Telos 10-2; Layton Christian blanked Parowan 5-0; South Summit edged Millard 2-1; top-ranked American Leadership Academy shut out emery 7-0' defending champion Waterford blasted Diamond Ranchg 6-0; Wasatch Academy nipped Intermountain Christian; Gkunnison downed Wendover 5-0, and Delta blanked Rowland Hall 2-0.

Quarterfinals are also scheduled Saturday in Class 2A.

Games will see Layton Christian at Manti, South Summit at American Leadership Academyt and Gunnison at Delta with 1 p.m. starts. Wasatch Academy travels to Waterford at 2:30 p.m.
