Chris Penne, an aquatic biologist with the Utah Division of Wildlife Resources out of northern Utah, sent this report  Rockport Reservoir continues to provide excellent trout fishing close to the Wasatch Front. We observed plenty of healthy rainbow trout, with many fish in the 16-18" length group and weighing up to 3 lbs. Wild brown trout appear to be gaining in numbers and present an excellent opportunity for anglers to catch some big fish, with some weighing more than 4 lbs and measuring up to 24 inches. Anglers looking to target these big browns will do best with a more natural presentations and lures that mimic the yellow perch and other fish they like to feed on. Rockport also boasts a good population of smallmouth bass, with several fish measuring nearly 16" and just under 3lbs.
