Bryce Cotton just received an honor he'd probably prefer to never get again. The Utah Jazz point guard on Wednesday was named to the All-NBA D-League second team as well as the developmental league's All-Rookie first team. Cotton's averages of 22.4 points, 4.7 rebounds and 4.6 assists with the Austin Spurs were impressive enough. But the highlight of season was, of course, the jump from D-League to the NBA. "Honestly, the road and obstacles I've had to go through, just getting here was the highlight for me," Cotton said during his last interview with reporters before leaving Utah for the summer. "… I'm just trying to make the most of it now that I'm here." Cotton, who appeared in 15 games with the Jazz, does not have a guaranteed deal beyond this season. Still, his speed, athleticism and shooting gives him a real chance at sticking as the team's third point guard. "I feel like no matter what situation you're in, you should always have the mindset that you want to prove yourself," he said. "You don't ever want to get complacent." The 22-year-old said he plans to return to Providence, where he was a collegiate star, for some of his summertime training before returning to Utah to work with Jazz coaches in Salt Lake City. — Aaron Falk
