"Big Homie" is behind bars, and with that Unified Police detectives believe they have closed the case on an armed robbery earlier this week at the Family Dollar store in Taylorsville.

UPD Lt. Justin Hoyal said the 300-pound, 6-foot-1 man was the second of two suspects sought in Monday morning's holdup at the 1649 W. 4200 South business. During the robbery, the second suspect — 5-foot-7 and 200 pounds — referred to his alleged partner in crime by the nickname.

Detectives, working tips generated by release of video and still images of the suspects, arrested the smaller, 44-year-old Taylorsville man on Tuesday. The larger, 45-year-old suspect was arrested on Thursday at his apartment in West Valley City, Hoyal said.

Both suspects have been booked into the Salt Lake County jail on suspicion of aggravated robbery.

The suspects allegedly walked into the store about 11 a.m. Monday, first appearing to be shopping and putting items into a cart. But once the female clerk was alone, however, they went up to her and one of them pulled a handgun.

The suspects demanded the clerk open the store's safe. After she did, they pocketed an undisclosed amount of cash and tied her up in the back before fleeing.

The clerk, who was not injured, managed to untie herself and call for help.
