Dos a Cero, yet again. But at what cost? Real Salt Lake and its fan base are already crossing their fingers and hoping for the best possible news. RSL captain Kyle Beckerman left an international friendly between the U.S. men's national team and Mexico Wednesday night in San Antonio, Texas, with an apparent left knee injury.

While FOX Sports 1 reported Beckerman left with a left thigh contusion in the 2-0 win by the U.S. in the 60th minute, replays indicate that the 32-year-old midfielder injured his left knee preparing to make a tackle and that his left knee buckled a bit — a non-contact injury. Replays show a member of the U.S. training staff working on the knee and while on the bench after being subbed off, Beckerman had an ice pack on the knee.

According to an RSL spokesman, Beckerman will evaluated by the RSL medical staff upon his return to Salt Lake City on Thursday. About an hour after the win, Beckerman tweeted:

Great result tonight! Thanks for all the well wishes. I'm doing just fine. #OnToTheNextOne

The blame for Beckerman's injury — whether it be the knee or thigh — will be placed on the flimsy, temporary turf laid inside the Alamodome in San Antonio. The pitch was in noticeably poor shape leading up to the friendly, and as expected, got more choppy throughout the evening. The Alamodome is a multipurpose indoor sports facility and convention center that used to house the San Antonio Spurs and still holds some professional and collegiate football events.

Beckerman started his first match with the USMNT since Nov. 18, 2014, when he started in a friendly at Ireland in Dublin. The midfielder turned down an invite to Jurgen Klinsmann's month-long January camp ahead of two friendlies in Chile and against Panama to focus on the preseason with RSL. Wednesday night was Beckman's 43rd cap with the U.S. senior team.

RSL goalkeeper Nick Rimando started in goal, going 45 minutes and earning half of the shutout against the USMNT's rivals. It was Rimando's 21st career cap as his record with the U.S. improved to 13-3-2.

It was a 20-year-old sophomore from Stanford who initially propelled the U.S by Mexico. Forward Jordan Morris netted his first senior team goal in the 49th minute when Michael Bradley slipped a ball by the Mexico back line, leaving Morris to finish by goalkeeper Cirilo Saucedo. The man who replaced Morris in the 65th minute, Juan Agudelo, doubled the lead for the Americans when his 20-yard shot was misplayed by Saucedo and went into the back of the net.

The 2-0 win was the eighth such win over Mexico since 2000. U.S. is unbeaten in six straight games against Mexico for the first time ever.

Former RSL center back Carlos Salcedo made his first-team debut with Mexico, starting along the El Tri back line. The Chivas defender played 45 minute before being subbed off.
