After beating Rochester, Mich., 4-0 in the opening round game of the USA Hockey Girls' Tier II U19AA team National Championships in East Lansing, Mich., Thursday, the Utah Lady Grizzlies hockey team lost their next two games to get knocked out of the meet.

Casonovia, N.Y., blanked the Utah team 4-0 Friday night and the East Coast, Mass., Wizards knocked the Lady Grizzlies out of the tournament Saturday with a 6-1 victory. The Wizards took an early 3-0 lead, which the Utah team could not overcome. Alice Peterson scored the Utah team's only goal.

Utah qualified for the nationals by winning the Rocky Mountain Division Championship in Dallas earlier in the month. The team made up from players from different high schools, had to compete in at least 14 games during the season, with each player having to have played in at least 10 of those game. Since this is the only U19 Tier II team in Utah, the squad had to travel throughout the country in order to get enough to qualify. They played in Colorado, Canada, Connecticut, California and Missouli in order to qualify.

Top performers include captain Kyra Dellerman, 15-year-old Sarah Cahill, Mina Maciunas, Kristina Earl and 15-year-old Riley Stout.
