The Utah Lady Grizzlies U19AA team defeated Rochester, Mich., 1-0 Thursday night in the ir first game in the USA Hockey Girls Tier II National Championships in East Lansing, Mich.

Kyra Dellerman delivered the only goal of the game for the Utah girls. She is the team captain and, at 18 years of age, one of the oldest players on the team.

In order to qualify for the nationals, the players who mostlky come from Utah high schools had to compete in at least 14 games, with each player being required to play in at least 10 of them.

There are no other Girls U19 teams in Utah, so the teams traveled throughout the country in order to qualify. They won the Rocky Mountain District Championship Tournament in Dallas to qualify.

The Nationals continue Friday in Michigan.
