An Eagle Mountain man was found dead in his home Friday night by Utah County sheriff's deputies responding to a 911 call from a woman who said she had just shot her husband.

Authorities have identified the man killed in the apparent domestic dispute as 33-year-old Elwin Hitesman. His wife, Tiana Hitesman, 31, was questioned by detectives and released, according to a news release from the Utah County Sheriff's Office.

The 911 call was received by dispatchers at 9:50 p.m. Friday, the release says. Four children, ages 1 to 9, were in the home at the time of the shooting.

Lt. Erik Knutzen, a sheriff's spokesman, said Saturday that the investigation is ongoing and it is unknown whether charges will be filed against Tiana Hitesman.

Court records show that Elwin Hitesman was convicted in November 2000 in 3rd District Court of simple assault, a class B misdemeanor, in a domestic-violence-related case. He was given a suspended sentence of 180 days in jail and ordered to take an anger management class, which he completed, according to the records.

Hitesman also had been charged with misdemeanors in two previous domestic violence-related matters — threat against life/property and electronic communications harassment in 2008 and assault in 2010 — but those cases were dismissed, court records show.
