Paramedics rushed to the scene of a serious-injury construction accident Thursday morning at the site of the new Millville High School in Cache County.

A 911 call reporting that a steel beam had partially fallen on a worker at the Millville site, east of State Road 165 between 2450 South and 2700 South, came in at 7:30 a.m.

Cache County Sheriff's Chief Deputy Matt Bilodeau said that the worker, a 39-year-old Ogden man, was a subcontractor who was working with the beam when it shifted, pinning his lower legs against a concrete wall.

Sheriff's deputies, paramedics and construction crew workers helped remove the beam and freed the man, who was transported in serious condition by an ambulance to Logan Regional Hospital.
