A 27-year-old Provo man has been charged with making terroristic threats to police in the wake of the Feb. 15 officer-involved shooting of Cody Evans, who was killed after brandishing an airsoft replica of an AR-15 rifle at police.

Michael Leon Angus was charged Monday in 4th District Court with one second-degree felony terroristic threats.

Angus is scheduled to make an initial court appearance March 2. If convicted as charged, he faces up to 15 years in prison.

Evans, 24, was killed by police following a domestic violence report to police from his estranged wife.

The same day, several "alarmed" citizens called Provo police alerting them that Angus had posted threats against officers on his social media page, including that he would retaliate with high-caliber guns and C-4 explosive, according to court documents.

Angus allegedly posted: "To provo pd. Beware of c4 and date 50cal bitches. Im fed up yall killin my homies, im killing u! Rip cody, i love u homie."

While conversing online with at least one other person, Angus also allegedly posted; "Ima kill all u provo cops ... Anyone whos down to ride on these pigs lemme know asap. if not ill do it alone."

Angus allegedly admitted to police that he was the one who posted the messages.

Charging documents note that C-4 has the capability of causing mass casualties.

A probable cause statement filed with the court indicates that the threats "caused fear and alarm" to residents and police officers in Utah County, "who have remained on very high alert for the past six days ... "

The statement also says that multiple police agencies in Utah County used "a large amount of manpower and resources ... to deal with the possibilities of these threats being carried out."

Evans' death remains under investigation by the Utah County Attorney's Office.
