Police lights are red, their uniforms are blue, and an officer helped two young people on their way to "I do."

Yes, a police officer helped a young man propose to his girlfriend on Valentine's Day. The boyfriend asked the Bountiful Police Department for help with a fake traffic stop, said Officer John Joubert.

The motorcycle officer thought he "seemed like a really nice kid," so he ran it by his shift supervisor, who approved.

So Joubert pulled the boyfriend over about 5 p.m. Saturday on Wildcat Way in Woods Cross, "so [that] it was out of the way," he said.

They pulled into the parking lot of Woods Cross High School, where an event was wrapping up and provided "quite the audience," Joubert said.

"He wanted me to call him out of the car like he was going to be arrested," Joubert said.

The officer did, called out the girlfriend as well, and the boyfriend took a knee.
