Unified Police were hunting for at least three armed suspects who broke into a Millcreek apartment early Friday, tied up a couple and ransacked their home.

UPD Lt. Justin Hoyal said the ski-masked suspects — two males and one female, all Latino — were armed with a shotgun and pistols when they burst through the apartment's front door about 5 a.m., near 3900 S. and 800 East.

"They immediately tied up the victims, a boyfriend and girlfriend, with zip ties and forced them into the bathroom," Hoyal said.

The couple were not hurt, suffering only minor abrasions to their wrists from being bound. However, the suspects did steal their white Kia Optima, license plate No. X421AJ. Hoyal said the car has tinted windows and two dents, along with no front bumper.

The suspects — who also may included a fourth person seen driving a truck in the area — took about two hours searching the house for valuables before leaving. The couple's cries for help were heard by neighbors, who called 911 at 7:26 a.m.

Hoyal said preliminary indications were that the home was picked randomly, but detectives were still investigating.

Anyone with information on this case is asked to call UPD at 385-468-9831.
