There are only four independents in the Football Bowl Subdivision (FCS) of college football — Notre Dame, BYU, Navy and Army.

But that doesn't stop folks from putting out All-Independent teams, which are like all-conference teams, but with less competition.

In fact, two such teams came out on Thursday, and BYU players were well represented on both.

On the FBS All-Independent Team, of which I am a voter, BYU collected 10 awards and eight honorable mentions.

Offense: WR Mitch Mathews, OL Tejan Koroma, OL De'Ondre Wesley.

Defense: LB Bronson Kaufusi, DB Skye PoVey

Kicker: Trevor Samson

Punter: Scott Arellano

Kick returner: Adam Hine

Freshman of Year: BYU's Tejan Koroma, OL

Honorable Mention: S Craig Bills, CB Robertson Daniel, OL Kyle Johnson, TE Devin Mahina, QB Christian Stewart, LB Zac Stout, DL Travis Tuiloma, RB Jamaal Williams

The 2014 Phil Steele Postseason All-Independent Team was also released Thursday.

Here are the BYU players on that team. BYU placed the most players on the team, with 10, followed by Notre Dame with nine:

Offense: WR Mitche Mathews, WR Jordan Leslie, OL De'Ondre Wesley.

Defense: LB Bronson Kaufusi, CB Robertson Daniel, S Skye PoVey

Punter: Scott Arellano

Kicker: Trevor Samson

Kick returner: Adam Hine

Freshman of the Year: Tejan Koroma, OL
