The National Interscholastic Athletic Administrators Association will give retired Jordan athletic director and current executive director of the Utah Interscholastic Athletic Administrators Association executive director Marc Hunter its Frank Kovaleski Professional Development Award Tuesday.

The award is presented each year to an NIAA member who possesses and has contributed to the vision of professional development and who who has made significant contributions at the local, state and national levels.

Hunter was scheduled to receiver his award at the 45th annual National Athletic Directors Conference in National Harbor, Md.

Hunter spent 34 years at Jordan High School, including 30 years as the school's athletic director. He coached girls basketball and track and had one-year stints as the school's football, baseball and boys' soccer coach.

Hunter has been very active in helping Utah's athletic director group, serving as secretary in 19095 and 1996 and as president in 1997 and 1998. He has coordinated the UIAAA state conference since 1988, been a conference speaker eight times and was responsible for establishing the UIAA Hall of Fame.

He was also instrumental in establishing UIAAA scholarships for high school athletes in Utah.

Hunter is a lifetime member of the national organization and has served or chaired numerous national boards.

He earned his B.S. Degree from the University of Utah and a Master's degree from BYU and has won numerous national awards.
