Here are the new school grades for Wasatch Front high schools. If a school has one grade, the grade was unchanged from last year.

For the new grades released Monday, Utah schools are being graded on a modified curve — based on an agreement reached by legislative leaders and state education managers.

The curve means roughly the same number of schools that got A grades last year received As this year. However, grades did change at some Wasatch Front high schools — West High School in Salt Lake City got a controversial F last year, for example, and a C under the new grades. Jordan District's high schools all moved up one grade.

The grades are based in part on year-end testing. But this spring, Utah schools switched to a new, more rigorous computer adaptive SAGE test, which drove down test scores. Without the curve, it could have appeared that school performance dropped dramatically in one year, Associate State Superintendent Judy Park has explained.
