Posted: 4:13 PM- The Board of Regents today tapped Utah Valley University President William Sederburg to be Utah's next commissioner of higher education.
Only last week, Sederburg, a 60-year-old political scientist with roots in Michigan, completed Utah Valley's complex transition from a state college to a univeristy.
He succeeds Richard Kendall, who retired last year, and interim commissioner Dave Buhler, to the post that oversees the 10-campus Utah System of Higher Education, serving more thanĀ 140,000 students.
On Aug. 18, Buhler hands the reins to Sederburg and returns to his old post as associate commissioner for public affairs.
