Posted: 8:01 AM- LAYTON - Police gathered a bounty of fireworks that were supposed to stay outside of Utah's state lines.

Not all fireworks are legal in the state, even to celebrate the Fourth of July and police say they took in quite a cache of contraband.

Roman candles, bottle rockets, firecrackers and M-80s are on the list of items confiscated over the weekend.

Layton Fire Chief Kevin Ward says he's seen thousands of dollars worth of illegal fireworks confiscated. He says it's a waste of money for whoever brought the fireworks across state lines only to have them taken away.

But law enforcement officials say the state's rules are going to be enforced, especially with the increased fire danger because of dry conditions.
