The child who drowned during a birthday party Sunday in Sugar House Park has been identified by Salt Lake City police as Deja Jubiate, age 17 months. About 7 p.m., Deja was with her grandparents at a pavilion about 50 feet from the pond when the party gathered to sing "Happy Birthday," according to police. After singing, they realized she was missing and began searching, police said.

A passer-by noticed what he thought was a doll floating in the pond, but then saw movement and waded into about 2 feet of water and brought the girl to shore. Deja was pronounced dead at Primary Children's Medical Center.
