A semitrailer driver died after he lost control of his vehicle's speed and plunged over a 225-foot cliff on U.S. Route 191 Sunday morning, police said.

Raul C. Rodriguez Jr., 58, of Alice, Texas, was driving south through Indian Canyon, about 15 miles north of Helper, when he lost control of the truck, said Utah Highway Patrol Sgt. Ted Tingey. Laden with dry cement, the vehicle went off the road and plunged down the side of the canyon.

Rodriguez was wearing a seat belt, but did not survive the fall. He died at the scene, Tingey said.
