Investigators think a fire that killed a man and destroyed a home in Cottonwood Heights was a suicide, the Sheriff's Office said Thursday.
A medical examiner has not yet positively identified the man who died, but Salt Lake County Sheriff's Lt. Paul Jaroscak said detectives suspect the man ignited the blaze Wednesday at 2938 E. Bridgewater Drive. Jaroscak said the man had previously complained of having "paranoid thoughts." The Unified Fire Authority said accelerants were poured in the kitchen.
