Salt Lake County undersheriff Beau Babka is no longer a candidate for sheriff of Orange County, Calif.

Babka was one of nine candidates vying for the position as of Monday, but failed to capture a single vote from the Orange County Board of Supervisors winnowing the field Tuesday, said county executive office spokeswoman Jessica Jakaray.

Six others were also eliminated, she said. The remaining two candidates are in California law enforcement positions.

Babka was one of 48 applicants who filed for the position before the April 18 deadline. Public input was taken in May before county recruiters narrowed the field to nine at the end of last month, Jakaray said.
