Shooter gets year in jail, then deportation to Pakistan

A man who shot and injured another man during an argument outside a Salt Lake City bar last year has been sentenced to a year in jail followed by deportation to Pakistan.

Michael Sahatvaliyev, 21, pleaded guilty in 3rd District Court to two counts of second-degree felony aggravated assault for the Nov. 10, 2007, episode at the The Front Road Bar, 1440 W. 200 South.

Prior to the shooting, the victim and his friends were kicked out of the bar for fighting, charging documents state.

Sahatvaliyev also left the bar with a group of friends and fired three shots at the other group before walking up to the victim and shooting him in the abdomen.
