Posted: 10:56 AM- Payson's City Council is going to take a second look at the UTOPIA refinancing plan it rejected April 22.
Mayor Burtis Bills said the council will meet at 6 p.m. Monday to reconsider its vote.
Payson is the only city in the 11-member Utah Telecommunications Open Infrastructure Agency that rejected, on a 4-1 vote, the refinancing plan. The agency wanted the city to pledge $12 million in sales tax over the next 33 years to help refinance the network.
Bills said council members indicated they wanted to take a second look at UTOPIA's business plan.
If the rejection stands, the city would likely have had to start paying $260,000 a year for 20 years to satisfy its commitment to the original financing plan.
