Please trim to fitAuthorities say a Washington Terrace man awoke Tuesday morning to a neighbor pounding on his door, alerting him that his home was engulfed in flames.
The fire began at 6:15 a.m. and destroyed the 2,000-square-foot home in Weber County near 400 West and 5000 South, said Alan Mills, deputy fire chief with the Washington Terrance Fire Department. The homeowner escaped without injuries.
A motor home parked next to the home also was destroyed. The cause of the blaze is still under investigation, but the man who evacuated the home said the fire was coming from the basement.
