A motorcycle accident near Parleys Canyon slowed traffic for more than an hour and a half Saturday on Interstate 80.
A trailer came off an SUV traveling west on I-80 about 4:30 p.m., said Agent Cori Start of the Utah Highway Patrol. A motorcyclist behind the SUV wasn't able to avoid the trailer and collided with it, Start said.
The motorcyclist, whose name or age wasn't immediately available, was flown by helicopter to an area hospital in critical condition, she said. He wasn't wearing a helmet and suffered a crushed pelvis, two broken legs and other injuries, she said. The man was in surgery at the hospital late Saturday, Start said.
UHP closed the westbound lanes of I-80 while rescue workers cleaned up the scene for about an hour and half.
