BRIGHAM CITY - Incumbent Box Elder County Commissioner Clark Davis was ousted by his party at this week's Republican convention. Brian Shaffer of Garland won 63 percent of the vote on the second ballot Thursday night, making him the convention winner and GOP nominee.
Party bylaws rule out a primary if a candidate garners at least 60 percent at the convention, said Chairman Scott Ericson. Chuck Poll of Brigham City was also on Thursday's ballot.
Shaffer will face Democrat Eli Anderson and Constitution Party candidate Lee Phipps on the November ballot.
