Silvia Thomas has been appointed as the new director of the Utah office of Hispanic/Latino Affairs, designed to oversee the delivery of state services to the state's Latino community.
Thomas was most recently a managing partner and real estate agent with Unified Advantage and Keller Williams Realty and was a program manager for Overstock.com, managing chat operations for three call centers.
"We are excited to welcome Silvia and the experience and expertise she brings with her. Her extensive business and management background will complement the strengths of the other directors in the Office of Ethnic Affairs," said Palmer DePaulis, executive director of the Department of Community and Culture.
Thomas replaces Jesse Soriano, who will be director of the state Office of Ethnic Affairs.
