The U.S. House on Monday passed a bill to transfer federal land to the state to support training of the Utah National Guard. The bill, sponsored by Rep. Rob Bishop, R-Utah, calls for transferring 431 acres at Camp Williams to the Utah government, providing that land is used for defense. "The missions and role of the Utah National Guard continue to grow, and we can help them by making sure they have and control the land needed for that growth," Bishop said in a statement. - Matt Canham
