Gov. Jon Huntsman Jr. signed 30 bills Friday, including legislation extending a "safety net" to polygamist communities, preventing the release of animal researchers' personal information and resolving a fight between banks and credit unions.

Other legislation approved by the governor prevents cities from dictating whether waste collected in their borders ends up in a private or public dump, allows citizens to register confidential complaints about drivers they suspect to be a risk, and funds college courses for prison inmates.

Huntsman signed 27 bills on Thursday, including SB81, the comprehensive immigration bill approved by the Legislature. The governor has until later this month to act on the rest of the bills on his desk. The Legislature passed 436 pieces of legislation in its 2008 session.
