Posted: 6:51 AM- Hercules, a Yorkie-Poodle mix, is credited with thwarting a home burglary Saturday in Orem.

A man and his wife were awakened in their condo at Oakhurst Condos, 1000 W. 1200 South, at 4:50 a.m. when Hercules started barking aggressively. The couple heard someone running from the house. When investigating, the husband found his wife's purse on the floor in the hall

Police said the burglar had obviously entered the home, picked up the purse from the kitchen counter and was on the way back to the bedrooms when Hercules started barking.

Officers found the screen door had been forced open by the burglar. A large footprint was found outside the patio door in the flower bed. Nothing was taken.
