Updated: 12:43 PM- CEDAR CITY - An inexperienced snowmobiler wearing sneakers and a light coat broke into a lodge at a southwestern Utah Boy Scout camp to stay warm Sunday after his machine got stuck.

Rescuers found Moises Loya, 41, Henderson, Nev., cold but otherwise uninjured Sunday at about 11:30 p.m. at the Thunder Ridge Scout Camp about four miles north of Brian Head.

Charlie Morris, Iron County's emergency-services manager, said Monday that Moya had rented a snowmobile Sunday in Brian Head and was making one last run when he got stuck.

Moya tried to hike out, according to Brian Head Deputy Marshal Dan Benson, but the snow was too deep.

When the snowmobiler did not return, his family contacted authorities, who launched a search at about 6 p.m.

Benson said deputies were searching the Scout camp when they noticed lights on in the lodge. There, they found a broken window and Loya seeking refuge inside with his socks and shoes off and bundled in blankets.

Authorities say it was unwise for the snowmobiler to venture out alone and without necessary winter gear - despite Sunday's relatively mild temperatures.
