A bill that would clarify state tax code to ensure that the spouses of a service member killed in the line of duty would not have to pay property tax, passed through the House on Wednesday. According to its sponsors, SB128, Amendments to the Veteran's Property Tax Exemption, would make no changes to the law. Rather, it addresses some confusion in the way the original exemption was written in order to accentuate the legislature's intent. The bill now awaits the governor's signature.
