Posted: 7:05 AM- A West Valley City woman admitted Monday to the fatal beating of her 1-year-old son.
Mesepa Heimuli, 29, charged in 3rd District Court with first-degree felony murder for the Dec. 2 death of Uatisone Sua Jr. Heimuli, pleaded guilty to a lesser count of third-degree felony child-abuse homicide.
She faces up to five years in prison when she is sentenced March 14 by Judge Deno Himonas.
The day of the boy's death, the mother was home all day with the victim and two of her other children, according to court documents.
Police were called several hours after the boy's father came home and discovered the boy was dead. An autopsy showed he died from a head injury.
