Posted: 4:02 PM- Today's storm triggered a special avalanche statement.

The Utah Avalanche Center said the northern Utah backcountry - from Logan through Salt Lake City to Provo and Park City - has a "high" danger because of heavy snow and strong winds. Both natural and human-triggered avalanches are likely, the statement said.

"Backcountry travelers are urged to avoid travel on and below steep slopes."

Meanwhile, many northern Utahns were bracing themselves for the next storm, set to move into the state late Thursday. And still another storm seems likely to move in overnight Sunday.

Daytime temperatures in northern Utah will be around freezing. The overnight temperature will be about 23 on Thursday and 18 on Friday.

In St. George, under partly cloudy skies, daytime temperatures will be in the mid-40s. At night, they will be around freezing.
